In Homefront News:
We got extremely prepared for hurricane Sandy - bathtub filled, buckets filled, bottled water purchased, batteries, wood stacked, unsecured items outside brought in, generator gassed up to power the sump pump, oil lamps filled, food made, house cleaned up-- and then were lucky enough not to have any major effects from it. Some rain and wind, but no power outage or trees down. Seeing everything on tv is heartbreaking.
And I cannot believe they are still having the marathon. That's all I have to say about that. (see above item in parentheses)
In Knitting News:
No progress made on my Harumi Cardi. Because I've been obsessed with my mitts. I've finished one:
And I'm about 3/4 done with the second. I'm hoping to finish it tonight. THEN I get to paint my nails and model them for you!
In the meantime, I taught the Downton Hat class at the shop last weekend:
Then, someone in the class told me about Call the Midwife, another PBS show which is supposed to be excellent. Must find that one on iTunes/Roku to get caught up and then watch the current episodes... maybe it will tide me over until January.
In TV News:
Speaking of the Roku, Paul and I have started watching MadMen from the beginning. What a great show! Very engaging. That's all I have to say about that. In case you want to watch it. I'm not saying anything more so I won't spoil it for you.
In Book News:
I've finished one book: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Minday Kaling. She used to be on The Office (as a writer and then writer/actor) and has now created her own show The Mindy Project. I think she is very funny and her new show is too. Her book, about her life and entry into show business was, for me, only ok. Funny for a lot of it, but then it got a little boring. And that's all I have to say about that. Really, that is all. Hopefully I will have more to say about the next book I'm reading: Sharp Objects: A Novel by Gillian Flynn (who wrote the totally excellent book: Gone Girl: A Novel).
And THAT'S all I have to say in general. (for now) (see? I told you it wasn't terribly exciting)
LOVE. THAT. MITT. and your DOWNTON HAT !!! Gauauaugeous both ...I'm with you- " DOWNTON ABBY " can't come back soon enough :).... Boy-oh-boy you're really churning out the books - i'm in the middle of "GONE, GIRL" and lovvvvve it!
