Atomic Fireballs

My niece in Virginia, Erica, who is 12, plays softball.  Her team is the Atomic Fireballs and here are their uniform socks:
Are those not the most awesome softball team uniform socks ever????  When I was younger and played softball I was on the "Powder Blue" team.  Why?  Because our shirts were powder blue.  My sister was on the "Red" team.  You see where this is going.  We had to provide our own socks.

The Yearly Virginia Weekend

Last weekend was our yearly trip to visit Paul's brother and his family in Virginia.  There were 10 of us and it was lots of fun as always.  First, the trip down included some knitting... my LightSpeed with yarn barf and all:
more on this in another post....
We went from not much green:
To lots of green as we got into Virginia:

We had the greatest weather and it was just what we needed after all these cold spring days up here.

I sat on the porch for more knitting:
Travelling Socks - more on these in another post...
....and lots of chatting on the porch too.
We went to the zoo one day:
Loved this lion sunning himself.
Had a making-pom-poms-with-a-fork seminar:
I blinged up my crocs with them!
And it was a family affair to get this:
Out of this:
So Paul and his brother could do this:

Jake watched:
Then we played lots of Uno:
And then we went home:
I worked on my Bloody Mary Cardigan and got the left front done:
more on this in another post too....
Whew! It was a very busy but very fun weekend.

Paul's Snack

Another quick post today - we are still recovering from our busy weekend.  A better post tomorrow, with some fun weekend highlights, I promise.

Here is Paul's snack the other night:
I'm pretty sure most of the food groups are represented.

Phoebe

We are so sad. Again.  Our kitty Phoebe died yesterday...
Seems like we were just getting used to our dog Mandy not being around.  Now we're starting over with Phoebe being gone.  She died while we were away for the weekend.  My friend Jana, who was checking in on her to give her medicine, found her peacefully (we hope) asleep in her spot in the sunny windowsill.   That's the most that we'll know about why/how she died.  Except that she was pretty old (she would have been 16 this August).  And Jana so nicely and bravely made her a nice resting spot until we could get home and bring her to the vet.  She was a sweet cat and we will miss her a lot.

Upcoming Projects

Lots of projects coming up and, believe it or not, not all of them are knitting!
For an upcoming rainy day with the doodlebugs....

For an upcoming rainy day with Paul...

For an upcoming car ride....
Ha!  That's all you're getting!  More on each of these as they happen...

Cuties

Busy, busy weekend. So, just a quick post today:

I. love. Love. LOVE. These.:
And Phoebe is a cutie too:
Who doesn't like another picture of her, right? (even if it is blurry because I had to take it with my cell phone because Paul was away and took the camera)

Quack

The pond/ducks view I didn't get the other day:
Eating a snack and watching/talking to the ducks....
quack! quack!
Our walks in the stroller are getting to be so much fun.  We talk the whole time.  Pointing out busses, cars, trucks, bikes, dogs (woof woof), birds (tweet tweet), planes.  Saying what color they all are.  Saying "Stop!" at the stop signs (and what color it is).  Then we stop at the park to have our snack and talk to the ducks (quack quack).  Then we all go on the swings for a little while.  Then we walk back home, pointing out busses, cars, trucks, bikes, dogs (woof woof), birds (tweet tweet), planes (yes, all the same as on the way to the park).  Then we stop on the highway overpass and wave to the trucks and busses and cars going under us. So. Much. Fun.
